Our Program

Milan Storm is an affiliate of Milan Youth Soccer Club. Players are considered Select by the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association.

By joining Storm, a player is involved in a level of soccer beyond what he or she may have experienced in developmental programs. Travel players are extremely committed and enthusiastic about soccer. The expectations of the coach are far greater than developmental programs. The value of the travel soccer experience is in the training sessions held during the week. It is the skill, participation and attitude of the player during those training sessions that determines his or her playing time during games. Travel players are guaranteed to play if they participate in training, but they are not guaranteed equal playing time like in developmental programs.

At Milan Storm we firmly believe that better people make better players. As a competitive soccer program, we recognize the importance of life outside of soccer and aspire to prepare our members for challenges they may face on and off the field. By focusing on key fundamentals, work habits and skills, we strive to develop our players into successful individuals.

League – Milan Storm participates in the Western Suburban Soccer League (WSSL) based in Novi, Michigan. WSSL has over 50 member soccer clubs. Games can be played anywhere in Michigan, but are generally within a 50 mile radius around Novi. Saginaw is the most northern, Detroit is the most eastern, Adrian is the most southern and Jackson is the most western. There are 4 home games and 4 away games per season.

Seasons – Fall season training begins in August and games are September through early November. The spring season training and games are April through early June. Games are typically scheduled on the weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays. Training sessions are held at least twice per week. Each team attends at least one tournament per season depending on player availability. Non high school players who participate in the travel program will commit for all seasons.

A formalized winter training program begins in January where we provide each team at least one practice per week for 10 weeks. The indoor training is required and is included in the fee. The Winter indoor games are optional, but highly encouraged. There is an additional Winter indoor game fee depending on player interest and team formation.
